Our Easter Weekend

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!!  Ours was a simple but beautiful day.  Saturday night we had our annual Easter Egg Dying Contest.  It was so fun!  We did the whole thing via skype with my parents so we got to brag as usual as we were dipping and seeing what we thought was about to be the "winning egg".

This was our setup while we were getting ready for some serious egg decorating!

Here is Adam and I and BIG baby bump holding our "Brookley Kate" egg.  She will be "hatching" in about 8 weeks or less :) We can't wait to meet her! *Please excuse my no make-up, tired, pregnant look! Easter cake dot orders were the priority all day.

We had our great friends Nichole and Grant Fisher over to join in on the fun and they jumped right in there and had some VERY COOL ideas...!

Since we couldn't be together with the family and get a judge to decide on the winners like we normally do, a good friend of mine, Mary Beth had the great idea of putting the pictures on facebook and letting all of our friends vote by "liking" the photos. LOVED the idea!

So here are the winners...

1st place - Chad (my brother)

2nd place - Adam (my husband)

3rd place - Adam (again)

Here are some of our eggs that didn't win but I think are SO CUTE!

The tradition that we share in doing this is something that I will never forget.  It definitely makes Easter something to look forward to!

What did I do with all of these beautiful eggs, you ask?  Why, I made my husband these...

...and ate 4 while I was doing it. :/  Ahh.. Pregnancy!

Easter morning was wonderful.  After a great service at church we headed to Adam's workplace "Alma Mater" if you will, the Bald Headed Bistro.  It's always so fun to go back and see some of the employees and catch up with them. We had easter brunch there and it was delicious!   I snapped a picture of my precious, handsome husband while we were eating...

Then he takes the phone and says "now we gotta get you!!" and I pose awkwardly for the picture...

Here we are for a more serious picture wishing everyone a Happy Easter 2011!!

Hope yours was as great as ours!

Here comes Peter cotton tail....

Happy Bunny!

Not-so-Happy Bunny

I decided to do an easy and fun Easter snack since Adam and I will not be having a big basket full of Easter goodies this year.  As long as I have known Adam we have spent Easter with my family and always got our big baskets filled with candy and all kinds of fun things, whether it be here in Cleveland or there with them in Mobile.  This year, being that we were with them out of town last weekend for my family baby shower and this coming weekend they will be here at our house along with Adam's parents as well, we decided to stay put.  So yummy Peeps Pops will have to do for that sweet tooth! :)

Need a quick and easy recipe for an Easter treat?  Try these!

What you need:

A box of bunny Peeps
Chocolate wafers (I used milk and white choc)
Sucker sticks
Candy Pears
Your color choice of sugar sprinkles (I chose pastels)

What you get when you put it all together....

Fun and Delicious and did I mention O-so-cute!?!

This year since we will be spending Easter in Cleveland we won't be able to have our annual family Easter Egg dying contest.  We are very serious and things can get a little heated but at the end of the night there are always a lot of laughs and we somehow all go to bed thinking we really won (whether we did or not) and we somehow come up with a title for each egg. i.e. most creative, most interesting, most patriotic- Adam wins this one EVERY year. :) Makes me smile just to think about it!  We will try to carry on that tradition this year by having some friends over to compete with.  I will definitely keep you all updated on who wins this year! :)  Here is a picture from last year...

Easter is such a beautiful time.  The colors, the flowers, the eggs, yummy food, delicious candies, and amazing weather, but let's not forget the reason we celebrate.  The sin that he bore for us and the new life we have in him.  This Easter I have SO much to be thankful for.  What about you?

Happy Easter Everyone!!

It's raining showers for Brookley Kate!

We have been so blessed with amazing showers that have really loaded us up with things we need for a new baby around here.  :)  We have had 4 wonderful showers and have 3 more waiting for us!  The fact that we have 3 different states of people loving on us never hurts either. So instead of cramming individual pictures from all these celebrations onto this page, I decided to put them in collage form for easy looking and much more organized and fun for ME!

Here is her Monogram shower which was a "Pink Circus" theme hosted by the bestest friends I could ever ask for.. My Keegan and Erica.  These girls didn't miss a thing.  The details of this shower just make me smile all over again..

Here is our Ohio Family shower hosted by Adam's Mom and Aunt Gail.  Gail is another one that loves the details and I love her for it!  Delicious food... Pink everywhere...Dream come true! :)

Our Forest Hill Church Shower was very special to me.  It means so much to know that no matter how far away I live, I still have a wonderful church family that loves and cares so much for Adam and I both.  They showered us with amazing gifts.  It will always be my home church and we will always "come back" to see everyone.  This is where our sweet baby Brookley Kate will be dedicated. Special thanks to Brenda McDuffie and my great friend Nikki Quinley for putting this shower on and doing the yummy food!

My sweet Aunt Linda in Birmingham, Alabama hosted a family shower for all of the girls in the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa area.  It was fun just to get together with my family outside of holiday gatherings.  This was a BEAUTIFUL luncheon.  The food was amazing and everything was perfect.  She has a gorgeous home and it was a very special day!

More showers to come so I will add those when they get here! We are patiently waiting her arrival.  The queen of our hearts will be here soon! :)

Our busy January!

Our January was packed with exciting things. One of those being the "Snowpocalypse" that hit Cleveland. 8 inches of snow (most I have ever seen). This snow shut down, and I mean SHUT down the city. Schools were closed Monday-Friday and even Lee was closed for 2 days...which NEVER happened while I was there. I have mixed emotions about being "snowed in". I found out it is not fun at ALL if you are alone. Adam had to go to work everyday so I would gaze outside every now and then and just bundle up on the couch. Made soups and cornbread and all the fun cozy stuff you are suppose to make when its snows! Here is proof of our Blizzard '11 (hehe!)

Snow drifts against the grill.

Our back deck and fire pit covered.

A look out the front door...

Brookley Kate's First SNOW at home!

On January 21st we found out what we were having....

Migi, J-pop and Uncle Chad came up for the exciting news and celebration!

What a fun experience. We all stared at the screen trying to guess and figure it out before the tech told us. Mom kept saying "It looks like its a Boy!" "I think it is"....I just kept quiet anxiously waiting to hear!!

And finally I said "ok... you can tell us!" She told us "IT'S A.......

.....GIRL!!!!

And the tears started flowing! :) What a magical moment... A miracle in my tummy...a sweet angel GIRL.. all ours!

Then it was time to celebrate and SHOP! We headed to FoodWorks Riverside downtown Chatt for lunch before shopping for pink.

My bestie Keegan and her husband Robbie (KeKe and Wob) drove up to celebrate with us. It was SO great having them with us!

First Day gown and silver rattle from her Migi!

Our little Brookley Kate.... already so beautiful! :)

After our busy day shopping we came home to prepare for our "Gender Reveal Party". This was such a blast! We invited just a few of our closest friends and ask them to wear "pink or blue" according to their prediction! The party was such a fun time! I can't wait to show pictures to Brookley Kate!

We also had a very special BIRTHDAY in January.... Adam turned 30!

I baked his favorite..Butterfinger Cake!

This cake gets better with age! After it sits in the fridge for a day its soooo gooeey and delicious! Yum!

When he got home from work he opened some gifts and cards and we packed up the cake and luggage and headed to Tuscaloosa for a good 'ole country time!

This is my Aunt's Country get-a-way house... it's in the middle of the country surrounded by woods with a hee-hawing mule that lives across the street :)... and we LOVE to go. It's so peaceful and quiet. Adam wakes up early and gets to hunt out back and we stay in and eat a country breakfast and get ready for the day! We go every chance we get.

Exciting times in the Lewis household right now! Until next time.. I leave you with some shots of my cute valentine's goodies! I just LOVE the colors this time of year!!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! :)
